Reply to the Heat Trace Ltd

This letter is to clarify all the vicious slanders and defamations to our marketing mode and qualities of products from Heat Trace UK. Jiahong HTM, HTLe, HTR, HTP and HTS series of products were all produced by Jiahong company in line with the company’s own core and patented technologies.

We never declare at any place or in any form that our products related to Heat Trace products, nevertheless we produced for Heat Trace.

In fact, from the lab test, our products have more advantages beyond some of the inferior products from Heat Trace, we have no reason to parallel our products to the ones below our quality grades.

The following instructions are the clarifications to what Heat Trace deliberately conceal truths benefits to us in their analysis data in the course of their testing of our products.

datasheet 1

As listed in the above table, we are using 24×7×0.15 to braid our cables while Heat Trace using 16×6×0.2, either the size of earth cable or the woven density of our products are all larger than Heat Trace products.

However, Heat Trace deliberately hind the truth that they are using 16 strands woven while we are actually using 24 strands to mislead the customers or consumers.

In the meanwhile, our products bus wires are 19×0.30, the cross section is 1.3mm2 which comply to the 16AWG construction in American Standard while Heat Trace cables bus wires are 7×0.45 with a cross-section of 1.1mm2 which is not in line with international standard.

Furthermore, their FSM measurement is not in accordance with what they listed in their report.

As indicated in the above image, there is no so-called air layer between PTC core heating material and insulation material in our cable, the hole in the cable in Heat Trace report is obviously man-made.

To sum up the above-mentioned points, our cables are more advantage of Heat Trace products in physical assessment.either in measurements or bus wire or woven density, they are all made by our company’s standard not like what they claimed the copy of theirs.

It’s also not difficult to find in order to de-valued our cables, Heat Trace deliberately damaged our products, distorted the actual analysis data and concealed the truth.

2. POWER OUTPUT VERIFICATION
In our comparison test, we found the start current of Jiahong 60HTP is 1.0A, the variation of the value of resistance is -2% while Heat Trace 60FSP is 1.3A, the variation of the value of resistance is -29%, that evidence the restarting feature of Heat Trace PTC material is obviously far below ours.

3. THERMAL CYCLING
We are astonished by Heat Trace forging our cables data in their analysis report. According to the Clause 4.2.6.2 in IEEE 515.1:2004 and the Clause 4.1.6.2 in IEEE 515:2005, we did a 1500 thermal cycling test, the results are as below.

The results completely comply with the range between -25% and 20%for the rate of change concerning the output power, our cables regarding such test have also been passed in UL laboratory in the USA.

We did a 32 weeks application test for Heat Trace FSR and FSE cables according to standard requirements in the clause 4.2.6.1 Primary Test in IEEE 515.1:2004, their rates of changes are -64%, and -73% which means the maximum application life for those cables is only 2 years.

Such bad application results have been evidenced by some customers who used Heat Trace cables in some Chinese oilfield. We have no doubt to believe some other customers must have the same headache when they used such cables from Heat Trace.

4. DSC THERMAL ANALYSIS
First of all, we would like to draw Heat Trace attention to their misunderstanding to the conception of Peak Melt Temperature which should be the peak value of thermal absorption in DSC analysis, not the temperature when material completely melt because the radiation crossing-link material cannot be totally melt because of its thermoset feature. Our cables DSC Thermal Analysis Data is as follows:

datasheet 4

From the above table, it’s easy to find our cables Onset temperature is above 85 degrees C and 110 degrees C and no application problem under such temperatures.

We are confused by Heat Trace misunderstanding so much that the resistance value of PTC material should reduce not increase like Heat Trace understanding when the temperature going to reach its melt point.

We always declare the maximum intermittent exposure temperature for our HTR low-temperature series cables according to the international practice is 85 degrees C and maximum consistent exposure temperature is 65 degrees C, not 85 degrees C like Heat Trace described in their report.

5. SOLUBILITY TEST FOR THE INSULATION
For the self-regulating heating cables using polyolefins as insulation materials, in order to avoid the damage to insulation feature caused by expanding as the temperature increases and contracting when cooled for a common thermoplastic insulation material, polyolefins materials shall be radiation cross-linked together with PTC core heating material which called thermoset material.

After dissolved by organic solution, the rate of retains of Jiahong HTR insulation materials is 73.7% while FSR from Heat Trace is only 0.3% which means Heat Trace is using common thermoplastic materials without radiation crossing link as insulation, that would bring the material contracting under low temperature and the worst danger of the short circuit could happen.

6. IR SPECTROSCOPY
According to the IR Spectroscopy analysis result, Jiahong cables completely in the line with the application temperature we declared, however, Heat Trace cables constructions of their materials possibly cannot reach their declared maximum exposure temperature after the same IR Spectroscopy analysis.
